PTLLS Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector
Level 3 Award In Preparing To Teach In The Lifelong Learning Sector

Ideal for new entrants into the industry. It is also ideal for anyone currently teaching or who wishes to teach their subject specialism to others. If you are a trainer involved in providing funded Work Based Learning (WBL), you may also be required to obtain PTLLS in order to satisfy funding requirements.

Level 4 Award In Preparing To Teach In The Lifelong Learning Sector

Ideal for new entrants into the industry. It is also ideal for anyone currently teaching or who wishes to teach their subject specialism to others.

Run over 4 days split 2 x 2 with a month in-between each session. The PTLLS course can be achieved at level 3 or 4 but we now strongly recommend that everyone completes at level 4. A level 4 qualification will enhance your career because increasingly both awarding bodies and funders are requiring teaching staff to be qualified at level 4.

The course objectives of PTLLS include:

- Adopting an integrative approach to the theory and practice of teaching and training
- Building up a knowledge of principles of learning, teaching and assessment and evaluation
- Developing an awareness of your own professional role, the underpinning value systems
- Understanding own role, responsibilities and boundaries of role in relation to teaching
- Appropriate teaching and learning approaches in the specialist area
- Demonstrating session planning skills
- Understanding how to deliver inclusive sessions which motivate learners
- Understanding the different assessment methods and the need for record keeping
- Understanding issues of Equality & Diversity
- Planning a session and a scheme of work

Just wanted to drop you an email to say thanks for getting the first aid course sorted. I thought David Higginson was a fantasic teacher. He got everything across clearly and was very approachable. Its another string to my bow and I'm proud to be able to say that I'm a qualified first aider. Still buzzing from the course and look forward to adding more strings. Many thanks & please pass my thanks again onto David.

I am very pleased with the content and structure of the course training. The site visits are always positive and useful to us in the training. We place other trainees on training courses for Mechanical Apprenticeships and they are with large colleges that don’t perform any where near the standard that PFTP set. Very happy with PFTP.
